Caroline nodded. Yes, that was true; only a few people were aware of the circumstances about why Cornelius Pembroke had been journeying to Honeyfield Manor. She was aware, of course, as were all at the manor. Mr. Parsons, the solicitor, was aware. Other than that, it was only the gentleman himself.
